William F. Dodd
William F. Dodd was born in Oakdale, Louisiana, on August 17, 1947. He attended Baylor University on a football scholarship until an injury ended his playing days. He subsequently transferred to the University of Southwestern (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) where he received his B.A. in 1969. He attended and graduated from
Loyola University Law School, receiving his Juris Doctorate degree in 1972.

Practice and Clients ::.
The practice of the Dodd Law Firm has been primarily that of insurance defense work with a heavy emphasis on litigation. Over the past thirty (30) years, William F.
Dodd has been general counsel for the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office and East Feliciana Sheriff’s Office. He not only handles daily legal matter for the offices, but
is responsible for defending various types of lawsuits, including, but not limited to, all 1983 civil rights types of actions (excessive force, wrong death and prisoner
claims). Also, all types of EEOC claims, including discrimination by race, sex and/or gender issues, have been defended by this firm.
Litigation also includes business claims/defenses, contractual matters, intergovernmental issues, federal consent decrees, sheriff sales litigation, bonds and fines
issues, and public records matters.
From 1991 through 2015, William F. Dodd has been involved in over 300 cases in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the United States
District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana, the United States District Court for the Western district of Louisiana, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal.
In addition to those cases, he has actively defended cases in numerous Louisiana Parishes, including Terrebonne, Lafourche, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, West
Feliciana, Assumption, St. James, Ascension, St. Mary, Iberia, Lafayette, Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines and Washington Parishes.
During that time, he has defended insurers for his clients, through the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association Risk Management Program and private insurers for Terrebonne Parish and East Feliciana Parish.
W. Seth Dodd, who is a member of the firm, has been active in the aforementioned practice since 2007 and actively assists in the handling of all cases in the office.
W. Seth Dodd also maintains a misdemeanor and felony docket in the 32nd Judicial District Court actively trying cases on a monthly basis as an Assistant District Attorney
for the Terrebonne Parish District Attorney’s Office.
